At
Sing & Play Blast to start Day 4, our Vacation Bible School students
watched a skit where a group of kids were playing Yukon Yahtzee, as seen
in the picture at left.
Day
4's Bible Point was "Jesus' love gives us life!" Our Bible Story
was "Jesus dies on the cross and rises again (Luke 23:26--24:8).
The Bible verse for the day was: "For the Son of Man came to seek
and to save what was lost." -- From Luke 19:10.
At
the Glacier Games venue, the children played Move The Stone, a relay
game in which the stone (actually a full plastic trash bag) is pushed by
sitting down with your back to the stone.
At Chadder's Snow Show our video chipmunk found himself on a research
submarine, where the scientists were studying beluga whales. Each
child was given a wipe to represent the way beluga whales scrub
themselves clean in shallow bays, which reminded them that Jesus' love
gives us life because "Jesus scrubs us clean of our
sins." The students marked their book Bibles at Luke 19:10.
In
Cool Crafts, the kids made kaleidoscopes, once again reminding them that
Jesus' love gives us life.
At
Igloo
Eats, several crews made fruity flowers with strawberries, green
licorice and dip. The seeds of the strawberry are planted in the
ground and sprout to create new life just as Jesus was buried and
reborn.
In
Bible Exploration, all crewmembers were handcuffed, with plastic
handcuffs, and arrested. They were all found guilty of every day
sins such as disobeying, cheating, calling someone names, etc. The
bailiff handed the judge a folder that explains that someone paid the
price for these sins and they are all set free.
At
the Ice Station Celebration at the end of the day, our students were
asked to think of something they have done wrong. Red paper was
passed out and they tore a piece from it. They thought about their
"sin" and the pieces of paper were collected. All the
"sins" were placed in a big box on the stage. When they
looked back into the box, all the "sins" were gone, replaced
by a large white cross.
