The pictures
on the left show what the children saw and did at West Park United
Methodist Church in the morning of the first day of Vacation Bible
School.
Day
1's Bible Point was "Jesus' love is powerful." Our Bible Story
was "Jesus changes water into wine" ( John 2:1-11).
The Bible verse for the day was "For your Father knows what you
need before you ask him." -- From Luke 1:37.
The
day began with kids crossing an Ice Bridge to sing
catchy songs and watch skits at the Sing and Play Blast.
At the Bible Exploration theater, the
kids watched a unique demo on changing water to wine from John 2:1-11.
They
also played teamwork-building games at the "Glacier Games"
venue. Today they participated in a "Water Jug Relay." It involved
filling a bucket full of water one cupful at a time by carrying the cup
with their teeth. We are happy to report that a lot of
kids got a little bit wet - a welcome relief during a very hot and
humid morning! And then there was the "Penguin People."
They
dug into a Bible adventure at Chadder's Snow Show, watching
Chadder the Chipmunk begin a polar journey at Yukon Jack's Sporting
Goods, Bowling Alley and Yogurt Shop. While shopping for supplies,
Chadder struck up a conversation with Yukon Jack about polar
bears. They
learned how Jesus' love is powerful, even for the
troublesome Chadder. VBS students highlighted the Bible verse of
the day (Luke 1:37) in their books and tabbed the page containing the verse.
During
a break, they were able to nibble on some tasty mini-wedding cakes at
the Igloo Eats Center were a crew of kids prepared the tasty morsels for
the entire Bible School.
In
Cool Crafts, the kids lined up for pictures that will be used on
Wednesday.
At
the Polar Bear Club they made Polar Bear Snap Key Chains to take home
with them. |
