Study
opportunities abound at West Park United Methodist Church. In addition to
Bible study programs in the 14 Sunday School classes the church offers, there
are more specific study opportunities.
Adult Bible Study - The Book Of James
Led by Pastor David Strope, this
study is held on Sunday evenings at 6:00 in the church.
The half brother of Jesus, James was
an important leader in the Jerusalem Church and was one of the first
Christians to be persecuted and killed for his faith.
In the study, Pastor Strope will be
exploring different kinds of faith: faith that brings peace, that
leans on God, that ties the tongue, that is needed during hard
times, faith in prayer and faith that is alive.
GriefShare
GriefShare sessions will be resuming in January at West Park Church.
The sessions are designed as a special seminar
and support group for people grieving the loss of someone close
We have a separate page established just for the
GriefShare program and you can view it here.
Mom's Bible Study
The Mom's Bible Study group is
currently studying "The Lies Women Believe And The Truth That Sets
Them Free," a book by "Revive Our Hearts" radio ministry host
Nancy Leigh DeMoss.
Study participants meet every
Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the church. All mothers are
invited and child care is provided for those who need it,
In this
book, Nancy DeMoss tackles 40
lies most commonly believed by Christian women—lies about God,
sin, priorities, marriage and family, emotions, and more. Though
she does not promise that problems will go away, she confronts the
lies with practical truths found in Scripture that will help women
begin to “walk through the realities of life in freedom and true
joy.”
B.A.M. Book Club
B.A.M. (which stands for Body And
Mind) Book Club is a discipleship study that meets on the first Friday of each month
starting at 7 p.m.
Led by Kris Torpey, the group
meets in the Torpey home in Fairfield Township.
The purpose of the group is to
build healthy bodies and healthy minds through bodily exercises,
studying wholesome books, and prayer.
